DSM Injectors
Soooooo, you need some cheap, big, low impedence injectors, eh? Well, I've got something for you. Although they're shaped a bit differently, have different O-rings, and are from an imported car, injectors from first generation turbo DSM cars (eclipse, laser, talon, etc.) WILL work in our Saturns. A couple of changes must be made to allow them to fit and seal properly, but they're quite easy to achieve. When you get the fuel rail, it will look something like what you see to the right. Where the injectors plug into the fuel rail, there are metal "C"-shaped clips holding them into the rail. To remove them, just push them off of the injectors parallel to the rail. After the clips are off, just pull the injectors out of the rail. After you get them out, make sure that there aren't any O-rings left in the rail hole. Should look like this.

When an injector is removed, it will have two O-rings. One is on the top, sealing it into the fuel rail. The other is in on the bottom, sealing it into the manifold. As far as I can tell, both 1st and second generation manifold side injector O-rings are the same. However, the fuel rail side O-rings on the first gen injectors are MUCH larger than the second gen injectors. Anyhoo, whatever version you have, you must remove the O-rings from the Saturn injectors and swap the fuel rail side rings onto the DSM injectors. You can see the rail side O-ring for the 1st gen injectors to the right, and the stock DSM rail side ring here. Now, the problem arises when you get to swapping the manifold side rings. While Saturn injectors have a place designed to hold the manifold side O-rings onto the injectors against the vacuum of the engine, DSM injectors do not. Instead, their manifolds are made with a lip that holds the O-rings in place.

In order to prevent the lower O-rings from being sucked into the engine and burned up, you have to permanently attach the manifold side rings to the bottom of the DSM injectors. I used JB Weld. It worked really well. Kinda shady technique? Yes. Do I care? No. Fuck it. It's awesome. As you can see from the right, the ring is on there, and it's on there well. Give the JB Weld a day to dry, and then reinstall the injectors into the rail. You don't need to clip them back in. You may need to use some KY or other rubber-safe lubricant to get them back in. When it's all back together, plug it back into the manifold and hook it up! By the way, 450cc is about 43#/hr AND I know for a fact that the OBD1 computer in the first gen Saturns WILL idle these injectors just fine. Damn straight.
