So, this was my first time ever at the strip. I went with a friend of mine who races Mustangs in an attempt to avoid looking like a COMPLETE dumbass newbie. I think I succeeded marginally well. No lining up at the tree, no red lights. All was well. The track had some nasty condensation on it from the cold, but it seemed ok to me. Launches were sketchy, but got better each time. Dropped the last one from ~2.5k and worked the best, though still too much wheel hop. I think the springs will fix that by next time. Shifting was slow, in hindsight. Just gotta move faster. Also gotta be sure to run out to a full 6.5k in each gear. Makes for a much faster 1/4 mile. Current mods (that will help a drag time): Cut shifter, bored TB, AEM CAI, Twistec Dogs, 2.25 crush cat-back, 92 header, FSTB, MOS Alternator Pulley, no spare/jack. Some pics from this trip: Gassing up, and Waiting in line to run.

The family came down for my birthday on the 26th, so I thought I'd take them to the track and show them that I'm not COMPLETELY useless. New mods since last time: Progress 2" Springs, Koenig Helium Wheels, Twistec Rear STB. Couple things to work on for next time: 1. Don't lose focus after staging. I seemed to focus out after I staged just long enough to be startled just about every fucking time by the third yellow. Despite that shit, though, had better R/Ts. 2. Pull on the shifter to quicken shifts and try to get faster. Did a couple good shifts, so I know I can do it. Just need to focus more. 3. Try lowering tire pressue more. Tried lowering the fronts to 28 from 35, but I think 25 would be even better. Anyway, all in all a fun day. Kicked about 4 tenths off the times from the last visit, so that's good. Some pictures: The Mother, excited to see me kick ass; The Mother again, being my show car girl; Robert, the kid with the Spec-V who kept beating me...BARELY!!!; The staging lanes, crowded as FUCK. That guy in the picture had a Z28 with a NX 150 dry shot on it...yikes!; The track, undergoing cleaning from the second of two almost consecutive blow-ups of some sort near the end of the day; Best time slip to date...I'm the 15.3, not the 12.9, dumbass.

Wellllllll...this fucking sucked. Mods since last track visit: AnR cams and intake manifold, XRC 55mm throttle body, Nology HotWires with Beru Silverstone plugs, Falken Ziex ZE512 205/50/15 tires, and a trip to tune on the dyno. All of this netted me a best run of 15.403, 0.024 seconds SLOWER than last time. And NO, I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. I'm not even gonna list the other runs, as they were just as bad. Just for notation's sake, though the 60 foot times didn't change, lowering the pressure to 24 PSI killed wheelhop, for the first time ever. In addition, on another run, I cut a .004 light, so that's decent. Jumping a Mustang GT through first and half of second is fun, hahaha...bitch...but then I got decimated. Some pictures...I went with the Mustang guys and Daniel (throwing his gang signs, by the way) again, who ran a 15.9 like a beast. The shot to the right is of Daniel and me racing.

Ahhh, a bit better. Got the fastest 1/4 mile and the fastest 60' I've ever run, though not by a huge margin. I did learn how to launch better tonight, and I also enjoyed the fact that I could sit at an idle in the staging lanes indefinitely without overheating....gotta love the manual fan switch, baybay!!! So, the upshot is that the 55mm TB sucks ass, and I should be launching over about 2600RPM or so. Launching around 3k causes too much wheelhop and lowers the 60' time. At least until I get slicks, that is...hehhehheh. A few other notes...my car has developed the symptom of popping out of 3rd gear under heavy load as it approaches about 6000RPM or so. Happened twice tonight. In addition, the clutch is slipping pretty nicely, so that sucks ass. I guess the clutch and flywheel will be the next project. Too bad my wallet is light these days.

Best 1/4 Mile:
