This is the stock Throttle Body (TB) out of my 1998 SL2. Yours may look a little different, but to my knowledge, the process is essentially the same, regardless of year. If you don't want to work on the one from your own car, go to some junkyards and ask around until you find one compatible with your year. Seriously, they DO differ from year to year, so be careful.
This is a view from the back of my stock TB. We had the car worked on this summer, so the front was cleaned, but you can see how dirty this thing can get. That blackness is thick ass carbon-looking deposit. It was on the front end, too, before it was cleaned up. If you're working on your own TB, or if the one you get is dirty, clean all the shit off with Throttle Body Cleaner before you start grinding.

You have many options of which Dremel bit you will use to bore out the TB. Options I tried included an aluminum oxide grinding wheel, which wore down too quickly, and the carbide grinding bit, shown here. This thing is the motherfucking JACKPOT. It will grind the shit out of the aluminum TB. It will leave some roughness, but that can be sanded out later. I suggest using the carbide bit.

To start the grinding, you need to brace the TB on something very steady. Me? I held it in my hand like a jackass. But if you can find a vice or a hard, steady surface, it's a lot better. Then, just try to make even, smooth strokes and grind the bore into a taper so that the mouth of the TB is larger than the inside. Just trust me on this one. WARNINGS: #1. WEAR EYE PROTECTION!!! METAL SHAVINGS IN THE EYE SUCK...TRUST ME. ALSO, WEAR EARPLUGS. METAL GRINDING ON METAL IS FUUUUUUUCKING LOUD!! #2. DO NOT GRIND WHERE THE THROTTLE PLATE CONTACTS THE INSIDE OF THE THROTTLE BODY. YOU WILL FUCK UP THE TB THIS WAY AND YOU WILL NEED TO GET A NEW THROTTLE PLATE....BOO. This picture is of my throttle body when it measured 55mm at the mouth. You can also grind the ridge down that lies behind the throttle plate, if you want.
You want to use a bit that looks like this Drum Sander to sand the TB after you grind it. Just make sure everything is nice and smoooooooth. Air turbulence sucks.
This is what my TB looked like from the front after being bored to 57mm at the mouth and sanded down nicely. Saweetocity.

This is a shot from the back of the finished product. Sexay. Now, as for installation, I suggest you use the instructions on the SPS webpage. They are VERY clear and concise. I used them, so you should, too. If you have any questions on anything, just email me, biatchezzzzz!!! Finally, make sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal while you install the new TB so you can reset the PCM to deal with the new airflow. All kinds of crazy shit happened when I restarted it. Have fun with that!! Hahahaaaaa!!!
