Alternator Pulley
Ok, this project was the second biggest bitch yet. Everything about it sucks. So get ready for a lot of sucking. It was also impossible to get pics from under the car because it was dark and the lighting sucked my left nut. You'll understand what I'm saying a lot better once you get under the car and look. I promise. First, you need to remove the serpentine belt. Next, you need to jack the car up and take off the passenger side wheel. Then, put the car on jackstands, placing them as near to the FRONT of the car as you can, while still bracing on the solid frame surface. Now, get under the car and look up at the alternator. You may need someone to point it out to you from the top. You can locate it using the last picture on this page. It is the one in that picture with the SILVER pulley attached. The rest are the normal black color. Your next task is to remove the alternator from the car. To do this, you need to remove two bolts. They are pretty much right above each other. One is really long, goes all the way through one corner of the alternator and has a nut on the other end. The other, the top one, is shorter and is only a bolt. Also, be sure to disconnect the sensor that plugs into the side of the alternator and also the positive battery connector on the back. You will want to disconnect the negative battery terminal at the actual battery before taking the positive connection off the alternator. You know, to avoid...how do you say...frying your stupid ass. Now comes the nasty part of this phase of the job. You have to pull the alternator out of its spot and down towards you, on the ground. I dunno what to tell you. You just have to fucking pull like a maniac and wiggle the shit out of it. Just keep it coming. It WILL come out, I swear. This is approximately the face I was making while trying to get it out. Ugly, no? Ahh, but no uglier than your mom......oh, too easy.

Now, after you have it out and have recovered from your herculean struggle with a martini and a massage from 47 virgins, take the alternator to Advance Auto Parts or another auto parts store...NO, NOT IN YOUR CAR, DUMBASS. SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR!!! Tell them you need them to replace the pulley on there now with your new underdrive pulley. They'll use an impact gun to get the old pulley off and the new one on, saving you a lot of time somehow getting the fucking thing off with a wrench or breaker bar. Your alternator should now look like this.

Finally, go back home and just do everything in reverse. And trust me, getting the alternator back INTO the car is EVEN WORSE than getting it out. It is gonna really suck balls. HAVE FUN!!! AHAHAHAAAA!!! Make sure to reconnect all battery and power connections and sensors, along with the serpentine belt, before restarting the car. It should all look like this when you're done. Bayam!!!
